Mixed Media Classes at Posh

I am so happy right now to have some really talented girls teaching some great classes. We are seeing more and more mixed media working its way into scrapbooking and card making and I think it's such a fun way to add a little dimension to whatever craft may be your chosen one.  Here are some classes we have lined up.

 

Technique Workshop with Jules - Leafing and Foils

We had this class this past weekend and it was sold out with a wait list so Jules has kindly volunteered to teach it again this weekend.  Come and join Jules and friends for another technique based workshop where you'll learn the art of Leafing and Foils. You will make a variety of tags complete with instructions for future reference.  All supplies will be provided.
Cost $10

When: Saturday, June 2nd 2012 1pm-3pm

 

Mermaid Altered Frame with Diane

This is a multi media class using some fun mediums and techniques including paper piecing, acrylic paints, watercolors, sponges and even some bubble wrap! You will create this colorful 11 1/4" x 9 1/4" Wooden Summer Fun Mermaid picture frame using the American Crafts, Amy Tangerine Sketchbook Line of patterned papers. And of course there will be stickles and bling! (Frame holds a 5"x 7" photo)
This class is for everybody... even beginners. Be sure to bring your favorite Summer time picture to complete your masterpiece.
Supplies needed for class: Basic tool kit, pencil, ruler, small scissors, exacto, Clear Gesso or Decoupage finish- (your favorite brand), foam brush, bristel brush and fine line paint brush. Watercolor pencils or gelattos (if you have them) in the shades of brown, orange, pink and peach.

Fun, Funky Artist Tags with Sue

We would like to welcome Sue to our team of creative teachers. Sue has been a fan of Tim Holtz

and Dyan Reavealey and will be teaching some classes using lots of techniques that she has learned from both creative geniuses.
In this first class you will make 3 tags - Dyan Reavealey style. You'll be stamping, inking and doodling.
Sue will provide tags and all the stamps you'll need. You just bring along 3 or more of your favorite Dylusions inks (we have them at Posh if you haven't already gotten your hands on these hot items). Please also bring your favorite stickles, black sharpie and white opaque pen a small paint brush and your favorite brown ink.

Price $12 (please sign up and pre-pay at the store )

When: Sunday, June 24th @1pm (approx 2 hr class)

Stamps: Stampavie; Christy Tomlinson; Dear Lizzy

Happy Memorial weekend to all you crafters out there. I hope you are enjoying this glorious day and get to spend a little bit of this long weekend crafting.

The Suzi Blu stamps by Stampavie and Christy Tomlinson stamps by Unity have been selling like crazy.....and it's hardly surprising...they are just gorgeous and are appealing to scrapbookers, card makers and mixed media artists alike.  Do not fear, if you haven't had the chance to come in and get yours yet, we'll be getting more in as they become available.

We are seeing so much more mixed media out there, whether you're using ink pads, sprays, paints or Faber Castell's.....the possibilities are endless.

The printed text stamp is among my favorites and I used it to alter this Maya Road canvas wristlet along with Luminarte Radiant rain Shimmering Mists and H20's

 We were sad to hear that Pink Paislee have discontinued it's line of Christy Tomlinson's She Art. I know many of you have gotten it already from us, it was hugely popular, and we have re-ordered it so will keep you updated as to it's arrival time with us. 

The other line of stamps that we have been waiting patiently for are the stamps by Dear Lizzy for American Crafts.

And this is a very cool card that I found on the American Crafts blog showing how the jar stamp can be used.

Sweet Treasures Keepsake Drawers Set

Jules is back again with another of her altered projects. This time, a darling mini drawer set for your special keepsakes.  You can look up Jules on her blog at  http://www.jules-atoasttoalteredart.blogspot.com/

Here's what she has to say about her class.

This project measures 10.5 x 3.5 x 2.5 and has six little drawers for those 'sweet treasures' we cherish.  You will receive tons of product, learn some fun 'shabby chic' techniques and there are even some 'sweet treasures' for the drawers of your finished project.  We will finish the project with a sealer that also makes the paper appear like fabric!  A closer look at some of the details is available by scrolling down past this blog post. Who doesn't have gorgeous beach pictures that are waiting to be shown off?

You will be using the brand new Oceanside paper line by Creative Imaginations, the brand new 7 Gypsies white shadow box, H20's, Radiant Rain Shimmering Mists, brand new Stargazer silk paint and May Arts cream silk ribbon.
When: May 16th, 2012

Time: 6:30pm

Class fee $35.

National Scrapbbok Day - Saturday, May 5th

A reminder that National Scrapbook Day is coming this Saturday and we're hosting our 12 hour crop from 10am - 10pm. A light lunch and dinner will be provided along with snacks and drinks, prize drawings and free make 'n' takes.

We still have a few spaces left so call the store and sign up if you are interested. We have a great group of ladies signed up already so fun should be had by all. Cost $35.

Please note that the store will be closing at 5:30pm on Friday 4th in order for us to prepare for Saturday.

Tea Time

For Tea Time this week we have designed a 12x12 double page layout. Nature is the theme, so perfect for most outdoor pictures you may having laying around. A great, easy, quick edition to your scrapbook album.

We took a trip to Ellijay, GA in 2009 and I have been waiting to scrapbook these pictures since then. I have many more to go yet though!

Come along for Tea Time anytime between 4pm and 6:30pm on Thursday, pages should take no longer than 30-40 mins to complete.

Tim releases Spring Distress Ink Set

We were so happy last week to discover that Tim Holtz has released a third Limited Edition set of Seasonal Distress Inks for Spring.

This is probably my favorite release yet as the colors are just so vibrant and completely like no others.

Peacock Feathers, Squeezed lemonade and Shaded Lilac are the three new colors that have been added to the color palette.

Tim also announced that Ranger are releasing re-inkers for this set and also for the Fall and Winter sets, so that's a total of 9 new re-inkers available.

I just wanted to say a big Thank You to all of you that came out yesterday to support our Garage Sale. It turned out to be a beautiful day and I know that lots of you got some fabulous bargains. Keep an eye out for our next one coming in the fall.

Tea Time this week on Wednesday and store closing early Thursday.

I wanted to let you know that we are having Tea Time this week on Wednesday instead of Thursday.

On Thursday we are closing the store early at 3:30pm to attend a family wedding and while I apologise for any inconvenience caused to anyone, we are all so excited...who doesn't love a family wedding!! I promise that I will post pictures over the weekend.

So Tea time this week will be on Wednesday, come along anytime between 4pm and 6:30pm and create 3 cards.  Take a sneak peek here of what Theresa-Marie came up with. They are a favorite of mine and a steal at $10 for 3 cards!
